Cut the bullshit. Listen to your heart. Take action and make it count. Surprise me.
My grandfather's passing seems to have brought these sentiments to light. I think it is a legacy he would appreciate.
He was a straight shooter. Tremendously kind but brave doing what had to be done to take care of the people he loved.
Being present for his death was very simply like this: he was there, he was with us, fully present and then suddenly, so very very quietly, he was gone. Blink. It will be that way for all of us.
What is your story? Everyone has their terrible suffering. You can make your pain a very precious thing. A holy place that defines who you are.
But every so often I encounter someone who can look at their pain right dead in the eye, give it its' full honest measure and has then chosen how to hold it. Used it to make them sharper, more efficient, generous and kind to how they choose to touch that of others. Decided to keep moving. And either they are very brave or very foolish. You know what they say: feel the fear and do it anyway.
I know this for certain: I am a brave fool. And here I am for the little bit I've been given.
